Unit Dates - Coming in August
Spelling & Vocabulary Reviews
Ongoing - Students may always review old vocabulary or preview new vocabulary.
Vocabulary Review is geared toward the books being used in the classroom. Book B is for seventh grade. Practice all the way through C, D, E, F, and beyond if wanted. Definitions, synonyms, antonyms, parts of speech, use in sentences -- all may be studied as well as basic spelling. Extra credit will be given for pretests printed or emailed to Ms. Ketcham before the test.
NOTE: The online site has not yet been updated; therefore, a few of the words may be different than in the book.
Additional games and exercises can be found at www.vocabularyworkshop.com, but students would need to create an account using an email address, password, and the access code found at the bottom of the page on the back of the title page of their student workbook.
Vocabulary in the World - Extra Credit - Find your vocabulary words in books, magazines, newspapers, movies, newscasts, songs, etc... (Friends, family, and dictionary-like sources don't count.) When you see or hear one of your vocabulary words, write the word, where you found it, and the quote. (Sheets may be found in the green file in Ms. Ketcham's classroom.) You may earn up to fifty points per quarter, but you have to recognize these words yourself. You can't get them from your friends, and you can't use the same word more than once from the same source. Your words really are everywhere!
